Parentage testing

parentage testing uses samples from parents and children to determine the authenticity of their genetic relationship. Relationships can also be determined if either of the parents is unavailable for testing (E.g. deceased, overseas, reluctant to participate, etc.) If this is the case, samples from other relatives (E.g. grandparent) can be used.

Usage of parentage testing

parentage testing can be used to confirm whether a migrant claiming right of abode from another relative is indeed related. It helps in claiming inheritance and child maintenance payments. parentage testing is widely used in criminal and forensic investigations, missing person identification and deceased persons identification.

Two types of parentage testing services:

Legal Use parentage test (ISO)
Our DNA parentage test reports are acceptable for use in court. The sample collection and analysis process should be supervised and fully documented.

Anonymous Use parentage test (Non-ISO)
Donors simply collect their own samples using the GeneTek DNA parentage testing Sample Collection Kit and return them to us for analysis. Results can be checked by phone call, viewed on our secure website (http://www.dnatech.com.hk) or mailed to donors after analysis is completed. The results of anoymous tests cannot be used in court as there is no way to confirm that the tested sample was provided by the party involved in the legal case.
